Tips for Hosting a Tailgating Party in Your Dorm Room

Watching Football | Stillwater, OK

Messy weather can sabotage outdoor tailgating parties. Don’t let inclement weather put a damper on your plans, however. Here are some tips for hosting an indoor tailgating party in your dorm room.

The Right Spot

Dorms have RA’s so first find a dorm that has an RA who’s cool with having a large and loud crowd on the floor.

TV and sounds system

You have to watch the game so make sure you host the tailgate party in someone’s room that actually has a good size, high-definition TV and the right channel. It’s also a good idea to make sure the speakers are high-quality and functional, as well.

Refreshments

Food is an absolute must. It might not be so easy to whip out a grill and cook up some burgers and brats, but that’s only one option for great tailgating. Chili is a king cold-weather food and easy to make in a crockpot. Make several different types of chili and get portable coffee cups and drink holders, so guests can feast on and carry around their chilly while watching the game.

Beer is easy to keep cold in coolers, but make sure to have plenty on hand so no one has to make a beer run halfway through the game. And have plenty of chips, pretzels, and dip to keep party-goers satisfied.

Games

The dorm hallway is typically spacious enough to handle indoor yard games like giant Jenga and cornhole. Card games are also a great suggestion, since they won’t take up much space in your dorm room.

Snow In The Sierra

For decades, pickup tailgates have been relatively unchanged. However, the 2019 GMC Sierra is revolutionizing the back end of the pickup with its GMC Multipro Tailgate. It has six versatile features that make it easier to use. Learn more about the incredible new features of the 2019 GMC Sierra here at Wilson GM in Stillwater, OK.

Primary Gate

The primary gate works just like any other truck tailgate. It has an available power release that can be operated using the key fob.

Easy Access

With the primary tailgate open on any other truck, it can be difficult to reach inside the bed. The 2019 Sierra has an inner gate that folds down to make it easier to load and unload the box.

Full-Width Step

Fold the inner gate down even more and it opens up into a large step that you can use to climb up into the box (375-pound weight limit).

Inner Gate Load Stop

If you have any second-tier items in the bed, use the inner gate load stop to prevent them from sliding out.

Primary Gate Load Stop

When the primary gate is open, you can flip up the load stop. This helps prevent items from sliding out the box when you need to keep the tailgate open.

Inner Gate with Work Surface

The inner gate can fold down to reveal a flat work surface.
