Messy weather can sabotage outdoor tailgating parties. Don’t let inclement weather put a damper on your plans, however. Here are some tips for hosting an indoor tailgating party in your dorm room.
The Right Spot
Dorms have RA’s so first find a dorm that has an RA who’s cool with having a large and loud crowd on the floor.
TV and sounds system
You have to watch the game so make sure you host the tailgate party in someone’s room that actually has a good size, high-definition TV and the right channel. It’s also a good idea to make sure the speakers are high-quality and functional, as well.
Food is an absolute must. It might not be so easy to whip out a grill and cook up some burgers and brats, but that’s only one option for great tailgating. Chili is a king cold-weather food and easy to make in a crockpot. Make several different types of chili and get portable coffee cups and drink holders, so guests can feast on and carry around their chilly while watching the game.
Beer is easy to keep cold in coolers, but make sure to have plenty on hand so no one has to make a beer run halfway through the game. And have plenty of chips, pretzels, and dip to keep party-goers satisfied.
The dorm hallway is typically spacious enough to handle indoor yard games like giant Jenga and cornhole. Card games are also a great suggestion, since they won’t take up much space in your dorm room.
